Teacher Academy Summer 2019

In July of 2019 and just fresh after finishing the school year I was very excited to participate in this very secret program with Apple, Lamar University and Houston Community College. I think we were about 100 Teachers from different districts around Houston and with several things in common: we were very passionate educators that worked with impoverished communities .

At the beginning it was very confusing. And just when I actually understood what this learning experience was about, it was intimidating. We starting working with little fun unplugged activities using our IPADS and then it turned onto on uphill battle to create an APP for MAM which is a non-profit SBISD community program that helps students and their families in many ways.

​

Create an APP? Whaaaat? I am certainly grateful for the group of SBISD colleagues  that I worked with because it was a difficult task and I had no idea how to find a starting point. It was a great collaborative effort to problem solve that quickly became an opportunity to drive my own learning.
