Coding in Elementary Schools

Final reflection.-

This is my second year in my attempt to Teach coding to my classroom students. You might say I learned some tricks along the way but truth is more questions have come about as I keep teaching it to students and learning about better prcatices on how to teach it myself. And on top of this, this is 2020 so  take into account my classroom has been virtual synchronous teaching for the whole first semester. 18 weeks zooming with second graders EVERYDAY, during the at least 6 of the 7 hours of the school day.

This Action Research plan and outline will attempt to understand if we can apply the very successful 5e instructional model to teach science that incorporates literary elements in the pedagogy of teaching academic science concepts.

So far the teaching of Coding for schools have been through  the implementation of very successful visual block programing and robotic hands on applications, as books about coding for younger students have only started to appear in the last 10 years and are not abundantly used.

Through this journey each part of my courses have helped to go deeper and more focused into what would be feasible, what would work or not, how an initial coding program in my elementary school would look like and what still needs to be done and how long will it take.

Please go ahead and read my action plan and outline and let me know your thoughts to help gain perspective as well as to ground this dream.
