Initial phase- Only SOE primary grades (2) - Year One

​

- Create a team of Teachers that will work together on this CODING itslearning module 

-Create a 2nd Grade Coding & Creativity Lab  

-Create Digital Environment within the blackboard platform of SBISD itslearning with the following:

  • Create lesson plans for Coding literacy following the CODE CAMP model with basic vocabulary - CODING LITERACY- in Computational Thinking plugged and unplugged activities. (Tinker, swift playgrounds, code.org)

  • Create a discussion board for tips and tricks /  emerging problems so Teachers have a place to openly ask about troubleshooting or areas of improvement /  suggestion box

  • Links to How to videos

  • Links to resources and Material

Hardware:

  • Create computer labs  for 2nd grade with access to IPADS and Apple TVs, ozobots and spheros so students can have their 30 minutes of CODING within their Empowerment Hour of STEM-CODING, specials and clubs.

  • CODE and Creativity computer lab should have at least 25 Ipads.

  • Students should be have their own Apple IDs or compatible SBISD id that work in there IPADS so they can save their work on Icloud.

Phase two - Only SOE   Grades (2-3-4)     --Year two

-Create a team of Teachers that will work together on this CODING itslearning module for 3rd and 4th

--Create a 3rd and 4th Grade Coding & Creativity Lab 

-Implement face to face and online PD's to work with Teachers as they learn to use this Digital Environment

On CODING Digital Environment  itslearning continue to work and improve on:

  • Create lesson plans for implementational of Computational Thinking in core subjects when alignment with TEKS would allow (+Tinker, swift playgrounds, code.org, scratch and other programs more suited for upper elementary grades)

  • Create a discussion board for tips and tricks /  emerging problems so Teachers have a place to openly ask about troubleshooting or areas of improvement /  suggestion box

  • Debug and improve any new learning

Open thisDigital Environment to all schools, offer PDS and guidance, bring schools to SOE to show how Hour of STEM - Coding works.
